Benjamin has become known for some time now because she created something very
unusual. She has recycled hairballs of cats and turned them into
"jewels". And the idea is not at all bad, because those who live with
cats are used to carry them hair on our clothes, why not turn them into fashion
accessories? This idea came to commemorate the official day of hairballs in the
United States, date (April 27) to become conscious about caring for cats' fur
and share information to help prevent formation of hairballs in the stomach of
the cat. However, Kate Benjamin says these jewels are made with cat hair that
comes with daily brushing, which is the best way to prevent the formation.

Kate says, “I started with a good grooming session with several of the cats, then I hand-rolled each ball of cat fur into a tight bead. By rolling the loose fur between your palms, the strands become felted together, forming a solid little bead. Heidi then transformed the beads using her silversmithing skills and her amazing eye for modern design and voil…!”
